Companies today have several IT architecture models at their disposal. On-premise, public cloud, hybrid, multicloud… each approach responds to different logics, with its own strengths, limitations and risks.

The aim of this chapter is to provide a clear, structured, and critical understanding of these models in order to enable the learner to:
  • understand the principles of each architecture
  • identify their advantages and constraints
  • analyze operational, financial and regulatory risks
  • choose a model adapted to a real context rather than a technological trend
At the end of the chapter, the learner will be able to justify a coherent architectural choice, controlled and aligned with the needs of the company.

Educational objectives:

Upon completion of this module, the learner will be able to:

  • Define what a computer architecture model is.
  • Explain the characteristics of the on-premise model.
  • Identify the strengths and limitations of the on-premise.
  • Describe how the public cloud works and its real benefits.
  • Understanding the risks associated with uncontrolled cloud adoption.
  • Explain the shared responsibility model.
  • Define hybrid and multicloud architectures.
  • Identify the requirements, complexities, and risks associated with these models.
